Andrea - Cake Design Conceptualizer
Andrea has been working in the Hospitality industry since 2003 has a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and an Associates in Culinary Arts. She has a great knack for visualizing concepts for cakes, even if we’ve never done anything like it before!
What is your favorite part of your job? “I love the team I get to work with every day and being able to utilize my creativity to design the perfect cake for our customers’ special occasions.”
Jacqueline - Wedding Design Consultant
Jacqueline has a passion for sweets and all things wedding related! She has a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sustainability. Her interest in the events industry started at a young age, when her mom was a wedding coordinator. Here at Dessert Works, she can be found hosting wedding consultations or updating our marketing and social media.
What is your favorite part of your job? “I love working with brides-to-be to design their dream cake for the big day. It’s always an exciting time for our couples and their families, and I’m grateful to be able to be a part of it!”
Elizabeth - Custom Cake Designer
Elizabeth graduated from Johnson & Wales University with a Bachelor’s degree in Baking & Pastry Arts where she did a study abroad summer in Switzerland. Prior to Dessert Works, Elizabeth was a cake decorator and pastry chef at the Modern Pastry Shop in the North End of Boston. After doing that for almost nine years, she decided to take a break from the kitchen and work more closely with the customers. Now, she helps customers bring their visions to life through cake designs.
What is your favorite part of your job? “I love being able to help customer’s ideas come to life in the cake form. Seeing their reactions and hearing that we went above and beyond their expectations and vision is very fulfilling! I could also not ask for a better team to work with!”
Back-End Team Members
Anthony - Lead Sous Chef, Cake Pro and Chief Instagrammer
Originally from Abington, with an Associates Degree in Baking and Pastry and Bachelors Degree in Food Service Management from Johnson and Wales University, Anthony leads the cake team who build all of the cakes, overseeing all of the cake production is up to standard. Anthony has been decorating cakes at Dessert Works since 2012, in charge of making all of the buttercream flowers, frosting and finishing most custom orders & wedding cakes as well as managing inventories & creating production reports. An enthusiastic team member, Anthony also makes many cake deliveries, and heads up our Instagram and Facebook.
What is your favorite part of your job? “My absolute favorite part of the job is on weekends when we have tons of orders and we do our decorating “rounds as we call them. Watching the cakes go from oven, to filling, to frosting is amazing.I always say it takes a small army to do what we do here. I learn new things every day and I am always working to make myself and my work better.”
Kristyn - Chocolate Artist Extraordinaire & Kitchen Manager
Originally from Walpole , she has a Bachelors Degree in Fashion Design and attended Johnson & Wales for an Associates in Baking and Pastry. Kristyn completed her internship here in 2012, and quickly took responsibility for our very custom rolled chocolate department. Kristyn spends her days creating 3-D sculptures of characters, patterns, shoes or figurines all out of rolled chocolate. She also organizes and oversees daily production.
What is your favorite part of your job? “My favorite part of working at Dessert Works is that my job is always evolving. Every week there are new appliques and 3-D sculptures to conquer. I am constantly being challenged and pushed to new levels. There is always something new to learn!”
Lauren - Baker Superstar
Originally from Derry, NH, Lauren joined Dessert Works in October 2016 starting in the cake department assembling and decorating. In early 2017, the baker’s position opened and she’s been killing it since then! Lauren manages the inventory and production schedules, bakes all of the cakes and pastries, and makes custards, doughs, and frostings.
Before joining the team, Lauren graduated from Johnson & Wales with a Food Service Management Bachelors degree and a concentration in Contemporary Pastry and Event Planning. After graduating, Lauren worked as a head baker at The South End Bakery in Boston, MA.
What is your favorite part of your job? “I love the new challenges and amazing talent that I’m surrounded by!”
Stephanie - Pastry Slinger - Pastry Slinger
Originally from South Deerfield, Stephanie attended Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in California where she earned her Associates in Patisserie and Baking. Prior to that, she attended Bay Path College where she graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science. Before joining us in 2015, Stephanie was an Assistant Pastry Chef at the Publick House Historical Inn and a Cookie Decorator at Modern Bite in Burbank, California.
Now, she is in charge of our “unique desserts” that is anything that isn’t finished in buttercream frosting! From glazing our Chocolate Fantasia, to decorating our shortbread cookies, or whipping up an assortment of mini pastries, Stephanie’s desserts (especially hand-decorated cookies) are enjoyed and admired by many!
What is your favorite part of your job? “That it doesn’t feel like work! Working together to create amazing treats with a fun team is truly a dream job!”
Deanna - Chocolate Artist
A “jack-of-all-trades” pastry, cake and rolled chocolate artist, Deanna has been with Dessert Works since 2015. Ever since she was 15 years old and started working at an ice cream parlor, she knew that decorating was her passion. After she interned at Confectionary Designs in Rehoboth, she graduated Johnson & Wales in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Baking & Pastry. Now, she works together with Kristyn, organizing all of the custom orders by names, dates, colors and designs. Deanna shows tremendous pride in all she does – whether it’s rolled chocolate appliqué designs, assembling and frosting cakes, or helping in other area of Dessert Works.
What is your favorite part of your job? “I love being part of an amazing team – I’m always learning!”
Eboni - Cake Decorator
A graduate from Johnson & Wales with a Bachelor’s degree in Baking and Pastry Arts and a concentration in Leadership studies, Eboni joined Dessert Works in 2015. She works alongside Anthony assembling and decorating most of the specialty cake orders and is also responsible for our retail store’s inventory. Before DW, Eboni was a cupcake decorator at The Cupcakerie, in charge of the bakery department at Corner Bakery and Café and lead decorator at BJ’s bakery department.
What is your favorite part of your job? “I have great pride for everyone that works here and everything that they do on a daily basis. They all have genuine passion.”
Lizzie - Intern
Lizzie assists with all areas in the kitchen from baking to decorating. A Charlotte, North Carolina native, she graduated from Johnson & Wales Providence with a Bachelor’s of Science in Baking and Pastry. Prior to joining the Dessert Works team, she was a pastry cook at both the St. Regis in Utah and The Catered Affair in Boston.
What is your favorite part of your job? “My awesome coworkers! Also, being able to learn a variety of different things from baking, to decorating, to flowers and pastries.”
Auz - DW Veteran
Auz graduated from Johnson and Wales University with an Associates in Baking and Pastry and a Bachelors in Food Service Management. He worked part time at Dessert Works starting in 2007 and became Head Baker in 2012 before pursuing another full-time job in 2017. Auz now works part-time and fills in whenever he is needed.
What is your favorite part of your job? “I get to make cake for a living! Who wouldn’t love that? I like that it’s science, how the ingredients work together and what they all do fascinates me. I also love that everything we make at Dessert Works is made from scratch.”
