how to place an order
About Dessert Works: Dessert Works is a from scratch, to order bakery. All of our items are trans fat free using only fresh, natural ingredients. All items are made on-site. This means we keep a limited inventory, so your cake is made custom start to finish, specifically for you, based on your order.
Ordering Information: A limited selection of 6" (serving 4-8 people), 8" (serving 8-12 people) and 10" (serving 15-20 people) cakes are available daily on a walk in basis. To guarantee a specific flavor and size, products must be ordered in advance. For cake flavors, sizes and pricing, visit our Cake Menu.
How Much in Advance: Generally all flavors and sizes are available with 4 days notice (for example, place your order by Tuesday for Friday pick-up). We recommend a minimum of 2 days notice for cupcakes, galettes, tarts, mini pastries, and individuals. Petit fours and customized hand decorated cookies require 7 days notice. For custom designed cakes we require a minimum of 7 - 14 days notice dependending on the level of intricacy. Cut out or shaped cakes or hand made figurines require 2 weeks notice.
Payment: When you are placing an order, we require either full payment or a credit card number to hold the order in our system. Payment may be made by cash, check, Mastercard, Visa, Discover, or American Express when placing an order in the store. When placing an order over the phone, payment may be made by Mastercard, Visa, Discover, or American Express.
Cake Cancellation and Change Policy: We have a 48 hour cancellation policy in order to receive a full refund or to make changes to an order. This is 48 hours prior to the scheduled pick-up date and time. You must speak directly with a retail associate for a cancellation to be processed and considered received. We do not issue refunds for orders cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, or for items that are not picked up.
Custom Cake Orders: Our custom cakes require a minimum of 2 weeks notice for order placement. This is due to the amount of work that goes into creating custom cakes. To cancel a custom cake order we require a minimum of 7 days. Some items, such as hand sculpted figurines, may require 2 weeks notice of cancellation to receive a full refund. We cannot guarantee changes to custom orders with fewer than 7 days notice. Please ask our sales staff if you have any questions about whether your order is considered custom, or about how much time is required to change or cancel your order.
Our Commitment to Quality
Dessert Works prides itself on using only the freshest and finest ingredients to create our cakes and pastries. Our chefs, pastry assistants and decorators have trained at world-renowned culinary schools, hotels, and patisseries. We are confident that you will be pleased with your purchase and will become a repeat customer.
For our cakes, we recommend that they be refrigerated and taken out 1 to 2 hours before serving to allow them to come to room temperature. Our cakes and frostings contain a fair amount of butter and the flavors are richer and more enjoyable when served at room temperature. If you are not sure how to store or serve a dessert, please ask and we will be happy to give you our recommendations.
However, if you are not satisfied, we ask that you return all uneaten portions of your dessert. Refunds are issued on a case-by-case basis and can only be done if we have the opportunity to evaluate the specific dessert in question. Refunds, when issued, come in the form of a merchandise credit valid for 60 days. Dessert Works may issue the refund in part or in whole depending on what we can determine was the cause for return.
